Athenian democracy, while groundbreaking in its time, had limitations that make it a less suitable model for modern democracy. For example, only male citizens were allowed to participate in Athenian democracy, excluding women, slaves, and non-citizens. Additionally, decisions were often made through direct participation rather than representative democracy, which may not be practical in larger modern societies. Furthermore, Athenian democracy lacked the checks and balances and protections for minority rights that are characteristic of modern democratic systems. Therefore, while Athenian democracy was an important historical development, modern democracies have evolved to address its limitations and better represent the diverse populations they serve. **

Athenian democracy, while groundbreaking in its time, had limitations that make it difficult to directly compare to modern democracy. For example, only male citizens were allowed to participate in Athenian democracy, excluding women, slaves, and foreigners. Additionally, decisions were made through direct participation rather than representative democracy, which is more common in modern systems. While Athenian democracy can serve as an inspiration for principles such as citizen participation and equality, it is not a direct model for our modern democracy due to these significant differences. **

Athenian democracy, while pioneering in its time, had limitations such as being exclusive to male citizens and relying heavily on direct participation. Modern democracies have evolved to be more inclusive, representative, and structured with checks and balances. While some principles of Athenian democracy, like citizen participation and the idea of equality before the law, can be seen as foundational to modern democracies, the differences in scale, complexity, and societal norms make it challenging to directly compare the two systems. Ultimately, while Athenian democracy can offer insights and inspiration, it may not be a direct model for modern democracies. **

Germany is often considered one of the most modern democracies in the world due to its strong institutions, rule of law, and respect for human rights. It has a well-established system of checks and balances, a vibrant civil society, and a high level of political participation. However, like any democracy, Germany also faces challenges such as rising populism and polarization, which can impact its democratic values and institutions. Overall, while Germany is a highly advanced democracy, there is always room for improvement and continued vigilance to protect and strengthen its democratic principles. **

It is unlikely that the AfD (Alternative for Germany) will end democracy in Germany. While the party has been criticized for its far-right views and anti-immigrant stance, Germany's democratic institutions and strong political culture are resilient. The AfD's influence has been limited by the mainstream parties, and the German public has shown a commitment to democratic values. Additionally, the country's history and experience with authoritarianism make it unlikely that the AfD would be able to significantly undermine democracy. **

Gschnitzer argues that ancient democracy is foreign to us because it is based on a different understanding of the relationship between the individual and the community. In ancient democracy, the individual was expected to actively participate in the political life of the community, whereas in modern democracy, there is a greater emphasis on representative government. This difference in political participation makes ancient democracy seem foreign and unfamiliar to us today. **
